What Is Retort Packaging?
Retort packaging is packaging that is used as part of the retort sterilization process. Where sterilization is obtained through the application of heat to a sealed container.
How is retort Packaging different than aseptic packaging?
With Retort packaging, the food is heated in the pouch. With aseptic packaging, the food is ultra-heated outside the pouch, quickly cooled, and loaded into sterilized packaging.
Why Is Retort Packaging Ideal for prepared foods
By using the correct materials (plastics that withstand the temperatures required for sterilization) both the food item and the pouch are sterilized through the heating process. Creating one sterilization process.
